back to sweat

well yesterday i pulled up pretty well with just some soreness in my quads (Sparkie reckons that is cause of the downhills which makes sense cause i felt the same after sutho to surf). miraculously nothing else hurts at all!! all of easy tigers work obviously paid off!

At lunch yesterday i did 15 minutes slow on the cross trainer to warm up before a nice long stretching session. then last night i ventured to ...the pool. i'm a shit swimmer but want to improve. i ended up doing 1k of which 300m was breastroke and the rest was freestyle. actually the breastroke was mostly at the start and i got into a rhythm eventually. it reconfirmed that i find swimming hard in a cardio kind of way and i can only do one side breathing - so i try and alternate which side it is! i was however very pleased to find that i could keep up and not get overtaken in the Medium lane - although i was more comfortable in the Slow lane...

anyway i was keen to see how i felt at training this morning and also to say hello to everyone. my friend mel has signed up for the works so she'll be along all the time now - yay!!

in terms of the running - the mind was willing but the legs just felt a bit sluggish. the accelerations were more like slow jog and slightly less slow slow jog. but i didn't really care! after the C2S we just did a lap of the park - so i felt quite virtuous. i had 8 x 300m on my program and was keen to do them all. this was thwarted after lap 6 when an officious and melodramatic park ranger made us stop mid rep because they are doing something to the playing fields. seriously dude - we were running, not pouring battery acid on the field - it wouldn't have killed him to let us finish the one we were on!

sean took the squad to the other 400m track that he apparently has but i decided that would do for me. all up 6.03k for the morning and a nice return to it :)

am now overindulging in the cereal that was in the bag that we got at the end of the race. delicious - and obviously very high in sugar!

27 degrees in sydney - its fabulous! can finally ditch the stockings and coats.

hmmm ... I ditched the stockings last week. Must be nice weather up here.

Pretty amazing to see you out running so soon E. I remember not being able to walk up the steps at Australia Fair after my first ever Half :)

Congratulations on your first Half Ellie - that's fantastic :)
Yay, another newbie lap swimmer! I'm finding that breathing on alternating sides gets easier with a bit of practice and suits me the most in terms of timing for when I need air - same side seems to be either too short or too long for precious oxygen!
