Sutherland to Surf
A beautiful day out in the Shire and it was a first trip to Cronulla for me. (another thing i am loving about all this running is the bits of sydney that i am seeing that i've never seen before).
My race was kinda average. i was wondering how i'd feel after friday and i don't think i can blame that fo rmy sorta average run. i went out way too hard. my first 3 k i did in 15.46 which is too fast for me. The next 2 were in 10.36 which made 5k in 26.22 (faster than my 5k pb). then i hit a hill and completely lost it. i had to walk for a minute so i did the next 2 k in 12.47. The next 2 (7-9) were slow recovery k's, but no walking, in 12.40. Then i picked it up with my last 2 k's in 5.21 and 5.36. All up that is 62.46 (but i'm not sure about the maths - i just added it all up cause i pressed lap instead of stop at the finish!!).
Not too bad except for kilometres 5 - 9!!!!
But was a fun day and i actually enjoyed the last 3 k's and found the last hill easy - unlike the other ones! Also a great bbq with excellent hosts and a day with lots of CR and Sweat buddies :)

Friday's sickness would have had a big effect Ellie. Don't underestimate how much that sort of thing really zaps you of energy. So well done today!
Well done Ellie - it's huge to get out there after being sick.
What fantastic weather. As long as you still enjoy yourself while running it is all good.
Hey Ellie - so great to see your running going from strength to strength - AND running after being sick!!! You really ARE a runner now.
Great shots from the NOSH - has the 305 arrived yet?
Keep up the fantasmagorical work mate ;-)
Good run today Ellie. It is very hard to go slow at the start of a race when everyone takes off fast. Just have to learn from experience, so today's race will help you in the future.
Tesso is right - being sick on Friday would certainly have had an effect on you. Make sure you look after yourself this week.
Congrats!
Great run Ellie. You will learn from this. You did well to pick it up again after that horror stretch. Well done!
