5k challenge

i started today not really wanting or caring about trying for a pb - to be honest i was having a bit of a bad attitude this morning ;) however, i got out there and realised i'd done my first km in 4.54 and thought - ah well - might as well give it a bit of a go. in the end i did the 5km (5.03 to be precise according to freddy - but that could be my slowness in pressing 'stop'!) in 26.21 which was an 8 second pb. i must have really dropped the ball in the 4th km because all the others indicated that i was heading for sub 26. still i am happy with that - and i guess there becomes a point where it is unrealistic to expect a pb every time :) the average pace was 5.14 mins per km.

i then had a lovely (albeit not as leisurely as we would have liked due to the slight paranoia that everyone would go without us!) run back to the start with the Owl - so a cool 10k for the morning. i was even healthy-ish at breakfast with everyone- but only cause there were no pancakes and i didn't want eggs!

long run tomorrow with Lorna - i have 2 hours and 17k so we are going to do the city to surf course because i've never done it and i need someone to navigate! (although she has warned me not to rely on her navigation so i will try and get a map of the course at some point today).

anyway - it is a funny old day for me. time to break some old patterns and time to move on. its funny how some things come into your life either at the right time or completely the wrong time. guess you just have to go with it :)

(introspective ellie signing off now... :)

Woohoo! Congrats on the PB Ellie. They are hard to come by as you get quicker and quicker, so well done ... especially seeing though you went in with a bad attitide ;-)

Good luck with whatever those new patterns in your life are.

It's still a PB. Just remind Lorna you need to turn left once you hit the heights so you can get onto Military road. Apart from that it's a relatively easy course.

Well done on another PB too!

You are following Lorna? Good luck. There is a reason she is the creative director of the cheersquad ;-)

I'm having one of those days too lovely. Moving on is hard but necessary. Enjoy your run tomorrow - I'll think of you :-)

Congratulations on the PB Ellie! The left turn is about 200m past a bowling green on the left.

Well done on the PB Ellie and interesting what you said about patterns (as Tesso in her ever perceptive style picked up on). James Redfield in his "Celestine Prophecy: An Adventure" talks about how our lives can change through unexpected coincidences. Maybe relevant to you and worth a read.
