800's - ish
today's program had 5 x 800's on it. i was (kind of) looking forward to it and set myself the goal of doing them all under 4 mins (which would translate to 5 minute/km pace.
so i knocked back some powerade cruised down to the oval and including drills and strides the warm up was 3.32km. my friend mel was there again (hurray!).
then we started the reps. i surprised myself by sticking with Mel for the first 800m which I did in 3.39 (yikes!). Gone out too hard again I thought... Then Sean decided to bump a bunch of us up into the 1km group (with the big kids, bernie, deanne, kit...). I started getting nervous at that point (and thought - finally - payback for that time when i did shorter than i was programmed...).
First 1k rep i managed to keep up pretty good and did 4.32 (woah!!!). i started really feeling it after that but managed to keep them quite consistent with 4.49, 4.47, 4.50. All under 5 min pace!!!! (admittedly Freddy informs me it wasn't quite a 1km loop today... woteva... :)
1.46km cool down for a total of 9.46km. I'm pretty bloody happy with that and am really pleased that i kept those last 3 reps at a similar pace when i wanted to take it easy, answer the call of nature or do anything to ease the pain that was hitting on the last 300m of each rep.
its all good - but man i am sweating (nearly typed swearing - that too!) more than i ever used to. ew! but that said - i think it means i'm getting fitter - so i'll go with that :)

Isn't that why they call it "Sweat?" (Oops I too just wrote swear!)
You want sweat - try holidaying in Borneo :-)
But I have it all figured out.
Sweat out - beer in.

I thought you were going to be talking about 800 fish from your blog title. How disappointing ...
Great stuff Ellie! Wow, you are getting way faster. And I envy your consistencey.
That was a great set of reps Ellie. The consistency of your training is really starting to pay dividends. Well done!
Sweat is good (c: Nothing more satisfying then a good sweat - even though others around you at the time may not think so.
Its hot here in Cairns at the moment so sweating copious amounts is compulsory.
Well done Ellie!
Guess what?
Besides what you tell yourself you are capable and you just proved it!
It's a satisfying feeling to realize that your fitness is increasing.

Those are fantastic 1km splits. You're really doing so well at the moment; it's great to see.
Yeah, whatever! You're getting some good speed happening Ellie; and running with the 'big kids'. Sean is just wants you to run even faster.
