new 10k pb - 45 mins

just kidding- but next time ;)

well it was an icy cold morning but nonetheless i was waking up every 10 minutes until about 5 when i finally got up. i was a bit nervy! my day ended up being a great tour of sydney starting with a very quick trip to tama/bronte to pick up will the frenchman on the way to homebush. (the tour of sydney bit came as after homebush i went to auburn to have a shower at the fitness first there, and then i went to canterbury for ice skating with the group that i volunteer with).

first up it was great to meet a bunch of new coolrunners - portrunr, blkbox, superflake, gronk, o runner - all the boys! Uncle dave was also along to cheer on his dad and was great to see horrie, TA & the gnome, FPT and many more again! I was really relieved to bump into kerry and helen from my sweat training group who made me go for a warm up (i was planning to conserve km's for the 10k's.....). it also meant that i could run with kerry for as long as i was able (in the end it was about 7k's before she really pulled away from me (showing my lack of match fitness for any of the longer distances!). somehow i made it through without even my ipod and cross the line in 56.40ish - to be confirmed! - so a new PB (yes it was my first, but as it is under 60 i am calling it a PB!!!). I am pretty sure i was the last chick - but that is ok!

funnily enough the gorgeous jen from sweat training won the women's race! no idea of her time - but i figure i'll beat her next time... hehehehe.

but after that, driving around sydney, an afternoon of iceskating and plans for a big night - i am shattered. but another hot shower and i'll be back to life to hit the town in a few hours.

thanks everyone who was so encouraging! and hope that everyone at GC is having a great one!

Congratulations on a strong Striders 10km debut. 56 minutes is a great time and I am sure it will come down with more consistent training.

Hey congrats on the sub 60 Ellie - having seen your monthly total on CR for June I think you might need to rethink the title of your blog!
